12th December 2020 – “Zoom” Meeting
12.00 noon

The  “Zoom” meeting will be a “Crafternoon Tea” Christmas event at 12.00 noon on Saturday, 12th December 2020.  So have your mince pies, mulled wine, tea/coffee at the ready! There will be a “Twelve Days of Christmas” themed quilting/craft competition – to enter please send a photograph of your Christmas project(s) to webminder@wicklowpatchwork.ie   The deadline for entries is 1st December 2020. They will be adjudicated by Roisin McManus of Quilt Yarn Stitch (QYS) and her team and three prizes will be awarded.

21st November 2020 – “Zoom” Meeting

Our next “Zoom” meeting will be held on Saturday, 21st November 2020.  Information about the meeting, including login details, will be sent to all members by email prior to the date.

The Guest Shop will be Roisin McManus of Quilt Yarn Stitch (QYS) who will give a tour of her shop including her longarm quilting machine.

Apple Tree Crafts LogoThis month’s guests are Appletree Crafts who will give us a virtual tour of their Shop and also “Christmas in October” demonstrations with lots of ideas for Christmas presents.  They will also show us their newly arrived stock.

The Sewing Shed Ireland

Nikki Foley of the Sewing Shed has kindly agreed to do a virtual tour of her Shop and also a demonstration, via “Zoom” of the first block of her Journal Quilt.  She will have kits available for members to order. Check out Nikki’s tutorials on YouTube – The Sewing Shed.

 

 

Saturday, 29th August 2020 – “Zoom” Meeting

Another “Zoom” Meeting will be held on Saturday, 29th August 2020 from 11.00 a.m.

Saturday, 15th August 2020 – “Car Park Exhibition”
11.00 a.m.- 1.00 p.m.

A Car Park Exhibition is being held for members to show the quilts and other items they have made during lockdown.  It is being held from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. at the Community Centre in Newtownmountkennedy.

It is a great opportunity for members to meet again while observing Covid-19 guidelines.  Both members and their cars will be socially distanced.  Members are asked to wear face coverings/visors.  A contact list will be taken of all those attending.

Quilts can be displayed on cars, clothes horses, folding chairs, step ladders etc.

Picnic – It is suggested that you bring a picnic lunch with you so that members can have a socially distant lunch/chat after the exhibition!

Raffle – a quilt made by member, Jennifer Crebbin, will be raffled in aid of our 2020 charity, Wicklow Dementia Support-  https://wicklowdementiasupport.org/   Tickets are €5.00 each.

Collaborative Quilt – a box will be available for members to bring the flower/pinwheel blocks they have made for our 2020 Collaborative Quilt.  Also, if you have any “orphan blocks” you no longer want, please bring some with you as one of our members would like to make a quilt with them for charity.

Saturday, 8th August 2020 – “Zoom” Meeting
11.00 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.

Following the very successful “Zoom” meeting held on Saturday, 18th July 2020 the Committee has decided to hold another meeting via “Zoom” on Saturday, 8th August 2020 starting at 11.00 a.m. The meeting is being held to update/inform members on the proposed Car Park Exhibition on Saturday, 15th August 2020 at the Community Centre in Newtownmountkennedy.

An email will be issued to members with details about the meeting including login details.

The Committee would also like to send a special word of thanks to all those who attended our first “Zoom” meeting on 18th July 2020 and for making it such a success.

 

Saturday 18th July 2020 – “Zoom” Meeting!
10.30 a.m. – 11.30 a.m.

While the WPG Committee has been meeting regularly online to maintain the good work of WPG it realises that we may be unable to meet up with all members until the autumn time or when it is safe to do so.

The Committee are proposing to hold a Pilot WPG Members Meeting online via “Zoom” application – https://zoom.us  on Saturday, 18th July 2020 from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. for what would be our July meeting.

The agenda for the WPG Online Meeting is: (a) Welcome; (b) Provide WPG Information/Updates and (c) Show and Tell.

The login details for the “Zoom” Meeting will be sent to members via email before the meeting.

We know that some members will already have a “Zoom” account, but for those who don’t, below is information on how to download the “Zoom” application to your smartphone, iPad, laptop or computer.

What you will need for the WPG Pilot “Zoom” Meeting
* Access to a laptop or device e.g. iPad or Smartphone with microphone/speakers. Make sure your device is fully charged and you have access to Wi-Fi.

We want to give you as much notice as possible to allow you to familiarise yourself with “Zoom”. We know not everyone may be able to use or avail of it. This will be a pilot meeting to see how it will work for WPG members.

Quilting and Knitting Fayre, Belfast – Rescheduled to 25th-27th March 2021

The Quilting and Knitting Fayre due to be held in the Stormont Hotel, Belfast from 26th – 28th March 2020 has been rescheduled to 25th-27th March 2021.  Website: https://www.quiltfayre.com/

18th April 2020 – Cancelled

In line with the restrictions and measures announced by Government to limit the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) the April meeting and workshop will not now take place.

 

Saturday 21st March 2020 – Cancelled

As you are aware the “Coronavirus” in Ireland has now moved to a “delay phase” for Coronavirus prevention. As a result the WPG Committee has decided that all meetings, workshops, trips and events be cancelled with immediate effect or postponed until further notice.
The upcoming trip to Belfast for the “Quilt Fayre” due to take place on 28th March has also been postponed until September 2020.

Workshop – Postponed

Saturday, 28th March 2020 – WPG Outing – Postponed to September 2020

WPG Outing – WPG is organising an outing to the Quilting and knitting Fayre, Belfast for members.  A coach will be leaving from Newtownmountkennedy Community Centre at 7.30 a.m. on 28th March 2020 with a pickup point at Whelehan’s Wine Bar in Loughlinstown.  The coach will leave Belfast at approximately 4.30 p.m. on the day.  There is a €20 deposit to secure your place!  For those interested in attending, please contact Moira Byrne on workshops@wiclowpatchwork.ie

Our 2019 Charity – Lakers

 

We were delighted to present our cheque for €3,200 to representatives from Lakers at our meeting in February 2020. Lakers was our charity for 2019. Thank you to everyone who so generously contributed to our charity events throughout 2019.

Saturday, 15th February 2020

The AGM will be held at 10.30 a.m. immediately prior to the monthly meeting.  A new Committee will be elected at the meeting. If you are interested in joining the Committee please let one of the current members know or contact chair@wicklowpatchwork.ie 

At the meeting a cheque to our 2019 Charity, Lakers Sports and Recreational Club, will be presented to representatives from Lakers. We will also have a guest speaker to address the meeting about our 2020 Charity Wicklow Dementia Support.

Member Terri McNeill of Terri Studio Designs will be bringing her shop to the meeting.

Tomomi McElwee of Slaney Quilting Studio will be bringing her shop to the meeting.

Don’t forget to bring the projects that you have been working on over Christmas for our Show & Tell.

We also hope to announce our Charity for 2020.
