Gwen Murray from Celtic Fusion Fabrics https://www.celticfusionfabrics.com/will bring along her fabric shop.
Deborah Von Metzradt https://www.littlescrap.ie/ is our guest speaker on waste and up-cycling fabrics. Deborah will give a workshop in the afternoon on using up-cycled fabrics.

Geraldine Cahill from Giddygoat Patchwork Studio https://giddygoatpatchwork.com/ will bring along her fabric and sewing notions shop. In the afternoon Geraldine will give a workshop on a Light Up House – the workshop will continue on Sunday.
Geraldine McGettigan will give a pre meeting patchwork demonstration.
Deb’s Little Scraps will give a workshop at the November meeting on waste and upcycling so to avoid disappointment, book your place at the meeting with Helen Dodd and Liz Byrne.

Saturday 21st September 2024
Weather permitting, this meeting will be held outdoors and the hall will also be available to us. Bring along your finished or unfinished quilts and projects for viewing. Quilts will be displayed on cars in the carpark and in the hall. You could also bring along clothes horses to use for the display. As this meeting is very much a sociable event, it is an opportunity to get to know other members – a name badge helps when mingling.
Following on from their recent dyeing workshop, Moira Byrne and Lorna Rafferty will give a demo on Printing & Stamping

Saturday 31st August 2024
As this is the fifth Saturday in August, a sit and sew meeting will be held in the Community Centre in Newtownmountkennedy. Bring along any projects which you are working on and enjoy a relaxed time to chat and get to know Members. Members will work on the second charity quilt. Raffle tickets for this quilt will be available at our upcoming meetings. Tea and coffee will be available and you may like to bring along a lunch.

This will be our Christmas in August meeting.
The fabric shop from Seams Sew Simple will be in attendance https://seamsewsimple.ie/ . In the afternoon Lynn Naughton will give a workshop on a simple fabric origami Christmas Decoration.
The usual charity table and show & tell will take place. Tea and coffee will also be available.

An online sit, sew and chat will be held at .7.30p.m. The usual invite will be sent to Members by e-mail.
8th July to 21st July 2024
The WPG 10th anniversary exhibition will take place in the Signal Arts Centre in Bray https://signalartscentre.ie/. The exhibition will be open daily from 10 am to 5pm.
The WPG collaborative quilt will be on show and raffle tickets will be available in the Centre. Funds are in aid of Purple House Cancer Support Centre, Bray https://www.purplehouse.ie/. The raffle will take place on 21st July in the Signal Arts Centre. Members Items in the exhibition should be collected at the end of show on Sunday 21st July or please make arrangements for a friend to pick up item/s.

This will be a relaxed meeting.
Moira Byrne and Lorna Lafferty will hold a day (Sunday 21st) and a half (Saturday 20th) workshop on fabric dyeing.
Helen Dodd will give a pre- meeting demo on creating an accurate quarter inch seam.

Gwenda McInerney will give a talk and afternoon workshop on needle turn appliqué.
There will be a charity table so bring along any unwanted sewing/textile magazines and fabric/sewing notions.
Moira Byrne and Lorna Lafferty will give a demo and instructions on how to stitch patterns in preparation for the fabric dyeing workshop which they will hold on Saturday 20th (full day) and Sunday 21st July (half day).
Bring along your entries for the WPG 10 year exhibition which will be held in the Signal Arts Centre, Bray from 8th to 21st July 2024. Check last month’s newsletter for information regarding presentation of your entries for the exhibition. You can also drop off your entries on Saturday 22nd June.

Moya Geraghty of Patchwork Plus https://patchworkplus.ie/ will bring along her fabric shop. Moya will give a half day workshop on exploring triangles. This will take place on the Saturday afternoon of 18th May. This workshop is now fully booked up.
John O’Donnell https://www.sewingmachines.ie/ will service sewing machines and the ‘scissors man’ will sharpen scissors etc. All machines and scissors are to be labelled with scissors in a bag with a label. Please ensure your contact number is supplied with all machines and scissors. Machines will be taken and serviced in order of arrival on the day.
Please bring along any remaining completed disappearing 9 patch blocks for the charity quilt.
Helen Dodd will give a pre meeting demo on how to make quilt labels and hanging sleeves. This will be a good opportunity to guide you in preparation for the planned Signal Arts Centre exhibition in Bray. There will be more information on the exhibition at meeting.

Purple House https://www.purplehouse.ie/ is our charity for 2024 and Veronica O’Leary from this charity will attend to tell us about the services and work which they do. We are asking our members to sew some disappearing 9 patch blocks for a collaborative quilt to be made and raffled in aid of Purple House. A link to the tutorial for the block was emailed by Maev Quinlan to members on 1st April. Please return blocks by Saturday 18th May 2024 meeting.

Sandra Margaret Butler will give a powerpoint presentation on old Irish patchwork quilts from the National Museum.
Bring along your entries for the St. Patrick’s Day challenge. There are no restrictions on size etc and these will be judged with a prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
Our member, Margaret Keating will give a pre meeting patchwork demonstration.

The annual AGM will take place. There are some places vacant on the Committee this year and we welcome those who might be interested in joining the team.
SarahThornhill will bring along another selection of her panels for sale. Her Christmas ones were a great success.
On behalf of Charabanc, Barbara Davis will be presented with a cheque being funds raised by members of the WPG during 2023.

WPG will start off the New Year with a meeting on Saturday 20th January. Eilish Murphy of Sew Dublin https://www.sewdublin.ie/,who operates an online shop, will bring along her fabrics.
Committee Members will show their quilts and will talk about the story and the making of them.
Tomomi McElwee of Slaney Quilting Studio https://slaneyquiltingstudio.com/ will start her workshop on ‘stained glass’ in the afternoon and it will continue the next day, Sunday 21st. This popular workshop is oversubscribed with a waiting list at the moment.
